Guest Curator Tia Blassingame is a book artist, printmaker, and scholar whose work examines the intersection of race, history, and material culture through artists’ books and print media. She is Associate Professor of Art at Scripps College and Director of the Scripps College Press, where she teaches letterpress printing and Book Arts with an emphasis on socially-engaged art practices. Blassingame is the founder of the Book/Print Artist/Scholar of Color Collective, an initiative that fosters collaboration and scholarly engagement among BIPOC artists and scholars of book history and print culture.
New York Curator Named - Women to Watch 2027: A Book Arts Evolution
The Steering Board of the New York Committee National Museum of Women in the Arts is pleased and honored to announce Jennifer Farrell, the Jordan Schnitzer Curator, Department of Drawings and Prints at the Metropolitan Museum of Art will be New York’s curator to nominate artists who work in book art for Women to Watch 2027.
Jennifer Farrell is responsible for modern and contemporary prints and artist’s books at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her publication Get There and Decide Promptly: The Richard Brown Baker Collection of Postwar Art (2012), which received The Frick Collection’s 2013 Book Prize. She earned a BA from Smith College and a PhD from the Graduate Center, CUNY and attended the White Museum of American Art Independent Study Program.
